Introduction to PDF Template Builder

Axonator’s PDF Template Builder lets you create and send customized PDF reports instantaneously. Data collected from the mobile form submissions gets populated automatically into the template you create and gets sent to the respective members of your organization via workflow customizations.

To create a PDF Report template

  • Visit builder.axonator.com
  • Click on the app in which you wish to create the template or create a new app.
  • Assuming you have created and saved one or multiple forms, click on the “PDF Reports” option under the “Build” section of the left sidebar navigation.
  • Here, you can
    • Create a new PDF Report Template, or
    • Edit the existing default PDF Report Template (created for every saved data collection and object form.

The PDF Template builder screen consists of –

  • PDF report canvas – The central area in which you can drag and drop various components that you want as a part of your PDF Report.
  • On the left,
    • There are icons for the PDF Report tools (textbox, image, table, etc).
    • Underneath the tools, you can see all the saved forms and their respective form fields. These can be dragged and dropped onto the canvas.
  • On the right, you can see all the properties of the components that have been dropped on the canvas. You can set the appearance of the components as per your wish by modifying the properties.
  • You can also preview the PDF Report template that you are creating by clicking on the “preview” button on the top right.

Once you have created and customized the PDF report template as per your requirements, you can either save it or save as draft. These templates can now be added to your workflows, and as the data gets submitted, the reports are populated automatically.

Please note: PDF templates need to be saved in order to see it being reflected in the list of available template of the “Generate Document” step, and not saved as a draft. A draft PDF template will restrict you from publishing the app.
