App Sync, Data Sync, and Hard Refresh

Within the Axonator mobile app there are 3 different types of refresh options available, each having their own use.

App Sync – 

This option will refresh all apps that have been published entirely and ensure that the latest version is available to use on the mobile app.
If a user makes and publishes changes to any app via the App Builder (builder.axonator.com) and has the Axonator mobile app open side by side, then they must perform an app sync to have the latest version of their app reflect on the mobile device.
App Sync is performed automatically every time the Axonator app is opened.
To perform a manual App Sync – 

  • Login/Open the Axonator Mobile App
  • On the top right corner of the “My Apps” page, tap on the refresh icon to perform App Sync.

Data Sync – 

The data sync process in the Axonator platform ensures that the mobile app, admin portal and the server stay up to date with each other.

  1. Data Submission: Whenever a user fills out a form using the Axonator mobile app, the collected data is automatically sent to the server via Data Sync process.
  2. Task Update: Any new tasks assigned to the user are automatically received on the mobile app.
  3. Offline Support: If data is collected offline, it syncs automatically once the device connects to the internet.

This way, the data and tasks on the mobile app and server always remain in sync without manual effort. You can also perform the Data Sync manually from your mobile app.
To perform a manual data sync – 

  • Login/Open the Axonator Mobile App. 
  • Open the app for which you wish to perform the data sync. 
  • On the app’s home page, tap on the refresh icon in the top right corner to perform Data Sync.

Hard Refresh

The hard refresh option is meant to be used in case if you wish to completely refresh the Axonator Mobile App. Hard Refresh will entirely clear the app cache and erase any draft submissions that are present in any of the apps that you have created. This option is meant to be used as a back-up refresh option in cases where App Sync or Data Sync do not work as expected.  

To perform a hard refresh –

  • Login/Open the Axonator Mobile App
  • Tap on the profile icon (next to the refresh icon) on the top right corner of the My Apps screen. 
  • Tap on the settings option, and then on Hard Refresh. 

Hard refresh does not get performed automatically. Users must ensure that there are no draft submissions pending to be submitted, as hard refresh clears the app’s local storage and erases any data that is stored under draft submissions.
