Introduction to Analytical Dashboard Builder

Axonator’s analytical report builder allows you to create a variety of data visualizations with the ease of drag and drop components. You can create insightful graphical and tabular reports within minutes, and have your data visualizations displayed on dashboards.

There are two main components to analytical reports

  • Graphical report builder – Useful for creating data visualizations such as pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, etc.
  • Tabular report builder – Useful for tabulation of data submissions and keeping a track of large chunks of data with ease and simplicity.

The charts, graphs and tables created via the analytical report builder can be pinned to a Dashboard, which are then made visible on the Web platform (web.axonator.com)

To navigate to the analytical reports section

  • Visit builder.axonator.com
  • Open an existing app or create a new app.
  • In the left sidebar menu, click on analytical reports.
  • Once you have navigated on this page, it may ask you to ‘enable reporting’.
  • Once reporting has been successfully enabled, you can click on create report, and choose the kind of report (graphical or analytical) that you wish to create.

Once you have opened the builder you can see

  • In the middle of the screen you have the canvas on which you can drag and drop various components to create visualizations. At the bottom of the canvas there is an option to add or remove a page of the report.
  • On the left –
    • options to add a textbox and apply global filters.
    • Chart options (only for graphical reports)
    • Form fields
  • On the right –
    • Options build data model and save the report.
    • Properties and layout options for the component selected on the canvas.

The canvas for graphical as well as tabular reports look similar to each other.
Only differences are

  • The “Charts” section is not present in the tabular reports builder.
  •  The “serial number” option is not present in the graphical report builder.

Please Note

In order to create visualizations easily, it helps to have a few forms created and saved beforehand. This makes creating charts and graphs easier in one go.
