How to Generate Auto Number with a Specific Template (e.g., EPS001)

1. Access the Axonator Builder

   • Go to builder.axonator.com
   • Login with your credentials

2. Open your form

   • Navigate to the app containing your form
   • Select the form where you want to add the Auto Number generator

3. Add the Auto Number field

   • Drag the Auto Number field from the left panel to your form layout

For Regular Auto Number

4. Select Regular Type

   • In the right panel, choose “Regular” from the Type dropdown

5. Configure Regular Auto Number settings:

   a. Set the Prefix

   • Click on ‘Empty’ beside “Prefix”
   • Enter “EPS” as the prefix

   b. Set the Postfix

   • Click on ‘Empty’ beside “Postfix”
   • Leave it empty for this example

   c. Specify the Length

   • Enter “3” as the length
   • This will generate a 3-digit number after the prefix

   Result: Auto numbers like EPS001, EPS002, EPS003, etc.

For Custom Auto Number

4. Select Custom Type

   • In the right panel, choose “Custom” from the Type dropdown

5. Configure Custom Auto Number settings

   • In the “Template” field, enter “EPS{000}”
   • This will generate numbers like EPS001, EPS002, EPS003, etc.
   • Adjust the number of zeros for more digits (e.g., EPS{0000})

For Both Types

6. Customize the Label (optional)

   • In the label section, change “Auto Number” to your preferred label

7. Save and test

   • Save your form changes
   • Create a test submission to verify the Auto Number generation

Important Notes

• The Auto Number is generated automatically upon form submission
• For the “EPS001” format, the “EPS” part remains static, while the numbers increment
• The Custom type allows for flexible formatting to meet specific naming conventions
• Consider future growth when setting up the number of digits (e.g., {000} vs {0000})
• The Auto Number field is read-only for users filling out the form
