Platform Overview:

Axonator platform is used to build mobile apps that can automate paper-based field workflows. Axonator is a no-code platform which means coding is not required to build apps. It is a drag and drop app builder tool.

Examples of the paper-based field workflows are: inspections, compliance audits,  asset maintenance, service requests and any kind of processes that involve data collection in the field which is currently done using paper forms and spreadsheets data entry. Axonator replaces paper forms and checklists with mobile apps!

How Axonator Field Apps Work:

A field user collects data using a mobile form on a smartphone or tablet. When the user captures data and submits the form, the data is securely transported to the Axonator cloud application via the internet. On receiving a form submission, the cloud application stores the data securely in a central database and initiates execution of a workflow. A workflow is a series of actions that execute one by one when triggered. Various actions like assigning tasks to the next user, generating a report, and sending email can be configured to fit the requirements of a particular business process. The data stored in the central database can be viewed, searched, filtered or exported in various formats like CSV and spreadsheets. It can also be automatically sent to a third party software like CRMs, ERPs or any custom application. Axonator also provides analytical tools to generate graphical and tabular reports and dashboards based on the collected data.

Compared to the other platforms, Axonator is highly optimized for field teams.

Axonator also provides an additional AI based tool, called AxoBot, to automatically enforce process compliance by the app users. Once reporting activities like inspections are scheduled, AxoBot automatically starts monitoring the submissions to ensure the users actually perform the scheduled tasks. AxoBot performs various actions like reminding the user to perform the task, escalating the issues of non-compliance of process to the supervisors if the user doesn’t submit the forms or checklists after repeated reminders. Finally, AxoBot generates periodic reports for the management team listing out which scheduled tasks were missed or delayed.

How are Axonator Field Apps Built:

Platform Components:

Axonator platform has 4 main components: Sculptor – the mobile form builder, Automata – the workflow builder, Enlighten – the report and dashboard builder and finally Fusion – the integration designer.

The first component is Sculptor. Sculptor is a no-code mobile form builder. Sculptor is used to build mobile forms to replace your paper forms and checklists without coding. Everything is just drag and drop. With Axonator mobile forms you can collect rich data along with pictures and GPS locations. Advanced widgets allow you to scan bar codes and QR codes. You can even annotate pictures to take notes on the spot. The form fields can pull data from any of your organization’s existing third-party or custom software. The forms can be saved even when internet is not available.

The second component is called Automata.

Automata is used to create workflows.  A workflow is a sequence of steps  or actions that execute one by one when triggered.  A workflow is triggered when a mobile form is submitted by a user. Using a workflow Axonator can execute various actions like automatically assign tasks to another user, send forms for approval to one or multiple team members, generate reports, send emails or send data to a third party software. A multi-user workflow sends notifications to users to execute their task. The sequence of actions in a workflow is completely configurable based on your business process.

When a form is submitted successfully after all the validations, Automata kicks in and executes the steps in sequence.

All the submitted data is stored centrally in one data repository. You can view, search, filter and export this data in various formats like spreadsheets.

The next component, Enlighten, allows anyone to build reports and dashboards which are populated from the data stored in the repository.  Enlighten allows creating PDF reports and analytical dashboards without coding.  Analytical dashboards contain charts and tables. Using workflows these reports can be sent to customers automatically. Dashboards are used to gather business intelligence to optimize and improve operational effectiveness of your organization using data-driven decisions.

And finally the Fusion component allows you to configure the system to automatically send the data to a third party software via API. For example, you can send the data to Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Financial systems, CRMs, or any custom ERPs your organization might have invested in.
